The Destin Airport is
centrally located within in the city of Destin.
Although its location is convenient to those
traveling to Destin, it is located in an
environmentally and noise-sensitive area.
Pilots are encouraged to be mindful of these
sensitivities during run-up, taxi, departure and
approach operations. Neighbors of the airport request
that to the extent possible, when consistent with
aircraft operating limitations, air traffic control
clearances, applicable regulations and safety of
flight considerations pilots:
-Minimize flight over congested areas
-Avoid low turns
-Utilize approved noise abatement procedures
During ground operations pilots are encouraged
to:
-Avoid directing propeller and jet blast toward
nearby airport boundaries
-Conduct run-up operations away from residential
areas
-Minimize run-up durations
-Avoid night run-ups
-Avoid extended operation of APU's
-Conduct taxi operations on one engine when
appropriate
-Voluntarily restrict operation between midnight and
6 a.m.
Following these (good neighbor) practices will help
assure continued existence of the airport and avoid
future curfews and mandatory noise restrictions.
