Destin is one of the most popular locations for
events in the Southeastern US. The powdery white
beaches and crystal clear waters of the Emerald Coast
make Destin an ideal locale for an outdoor wedding

Conventions
There are several establishments in Destin
featuring conference rooms that can accommodate large
groups, as well as a new convention center on
Okaloosa Island. Some local businesses offer special
group rates for dining, lodging and activities.
Convention attendees spend their free time lounging
on the beach, dining in world-class restaurants, deep
sea fishing and playing golf.
Since Destin is such a popular convention
destination, facilities are booked far in advance.
Large groups should begin making arrangements more
than a year in advance, particularly for events in
the spring or summer.
Beach Weddings
Beach weddings take place year-round, most often
in the spring and fall. Beach weddings range from a
simple affair with a small wedding party and a cooler
of beer to elaborate ceremonies featuring live music
and a catered menu. A popular location is James Lee
Park on Scenic Hwy. 98, which has several covered
pavilions overlooking the beach and is home of The
Crab Trap Restaurant. It's a good idea to have a
backup plan in case of rain, particularly in the
summer, when thunderstorms can pop up out of
nowhere.
